CELEBRATING OUR CSVPA STUDENTS’ BA RESULTS

CELEBRATING OUR CSVPA STUDENTS’ BA RESULTS

As our graduating class of 2024 are preparing to continue their creative journeys, we are thrilled to celebrate the BA results of our exceptional CSVPA students.

For three years our BA students have been challenging the boundaries of creativity, developing their artistic skills through their consistent curiosity and using their individual talents and voices to inspire change in the world. We are incredibly proud to join them in celebrating their BA results, a clear reflection of their persistence, hard work and dedication to their studies.

During their time at CSVPA, our BA (Hons) students have amassed a number of incredible accomplishments.

Flynn, BA (Hons) Graphics and Illustration student, won the Disney Home Storyteller Award at New Designers 2024 where he showcased his final project – a retelling of a children’s story written by his aunt. His creative designs brought together his South African heritage with the artistic knowledge and skills developed through his undergraduate studies. The judges praised Flynn’s “depth of storytelling” as well as his characterisation and innovative use of multi-media techniques.

At the same event, Aleks and McKenzie, who brought their unique artistic styles together to work collaboratively on their final project, were runners up for the ‘Colour in Design’ Award. Their final project was inspired by their shared interest in overcoming the stigma around using food banks, in a mission to tackle food insecurity. They are a perfect example of how art can be used to inspire change.

Our BA (Hons) Fashion students also received incredible recognition during Graduate Fashion Week 2024 (GFW). Each year, thousands of fashion students apply to be considered for GFW, to be selected to have your collection showcased on the catwalk is already an achievement.

BA (Hons) Fashion students Lisa Ly and Jo M, saw their collections take to the catwalk at this year’s event where they were both received with much acclaim. Lisa’s collection caught the eye of the GFW judges, and she was awarded the much coveted Bronze Catwalk Award. To be selected for this highly sought after award is an incredible accolade and is the ultimate recognition of her talent and skill at the world’s largest and most illustrious showcase of graduate fashion.

Furthermore, three students from our BA (Hons) Fashion Branding and Creative Communications course, Elina, Holly and Arif, were selected to present their final projects at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week. With each of the students receiving at least one award nomination, the quality of their work speaks for itself.

McKenzie, a BA (Hons) Graphics and Illustration student who has recently graduated from CSVPA, said: “My time at CSVPA has been so helpful. I think I wouldn’t have got this experience anywhere else. There are such small classes, we have a lot of one-to-ones with the tutors, and I am so grateful for a space where they have allowed us to work together so closely. It is definitely an opportunity I wouldn’t pass up for anything else.”

“From where I started, I would not have imagined myself doing the art I am doing now. First year me could not imagine this at all” remarked Aleks, another BA (Hons) Graphics and Illustration graduate. “It is mostly because we have been pushed to challenge ourselves with our art style, what we think, how we work. I think it is also to do with the close one-to-ones and how much you get back from the tutors.”
