We invite you to a unique event that brings together art and science. Over the course of 5 months, our Graduate School students have been working closely with PhD students from PIPgen in a groundbreaking collaboration. Through this unique partnership, 15 science inspired artworks have been produced – all tackling different aspects of the biological PI3K/PTEN pathway and their connections to monogenic rare diseases and cancer.
The created artworks are the physical manifestation of an extensive interaction. Observe the artworks as windows through which you can experience a glimpse of the de- and re- construction that participants have experienced. Ultimately, we invite you to set aside your preconceptions of art and research and join us on this journey.
Along with guidance from Dr. Heather Barnett and her students from MA Art & Science at Central St. Martin’s (University of the Arts London), we will be using the transformative power of art to raise awareness and help to communicate the extraordinary and far-reaching impacts of leading-edge research in medical science.
At the inauguration, visitors will have the opportunity to explore unique artworks and meet the talented artists and scientists behind the CSVPA and PIPgenerating ART collaboration.
The evening will conclude with an award ceremony for the 3 best artworks, including a people’s choice award. Join us for an inspiring evening of art and science.

After this the exhibition will be moved to Cambridge’s WestHub (Mon – Fri, 8am – 9pm; JJ Thomson Ave, Cambridge CB3 0US) where you will have another opportunity to view the artwork.
About PIPgen
PIPgen is an Innovative Training Network funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme that envisions to empower PI3K/PTEN research in Europe to the next level of research and especially towards clinical translation. The PIPgen network aims to train 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in a wide range of scientific and complementary competences and prepare them for leading roles in the European industry and academia. PIPgen is a multidisciplinary and cross-sectorial consortium that brings together 11 leading European basic and clinical scientists and complementary industrial expertise in the PI3K/PTEN field.
