UPCOMING EVENT: MAKE ZOO AND MEND AT THE MUSEUM OF ZOOLOGY

UPCOMING EVENT: MAKE ZOO AND MEND AT THE MUSEUM OF ZOOLOGY

CSVPA has partnered with the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge for their Make Zoo and Mend event. This sustainable fashion focused event will include a number of workshops, led by Fashion experts from CSVPA, which will allow visitors to embrace the art of transforming, repairing and re-styling their old clothes into something new.

Why buy new clothes when old clothes can look as good as new? Come along to this sustainable clothes and textiles event, where there will be expert craft people on hand to share their textiles skills. Visitors will be able to convert old t-shirts into something new, re-style their current garments, plus learn how to repair and mend their favourite items. We are delighted that textile artist Stephanie Norwood, as well as our Fashion students, will be on hand with plenty of styling tips.

Our second year students will be showcasing garments created from deadstock and upcycled garments, while our third year students will be giving visitors a glimpse of their final collections. One of our brilliant alumni will also be exhibiting her award winning graduate collection.

Workshops on the night include:

Tote Bag Rescue – bring in your old tote bag and re-style it with prints from the Museum collection

Cushion & Scarf making – make a cushion cover or a scarf to take home (whilst materials last)

Embroidery – learn techniques to embellish your clothes with embroidery

Darning workshop – fix your old favourites

Make a corsage – watch as CSVPA Fashion students demonstrate knitting machines and make you a corsage to take home

Style Doctor – do you have a favourite item that needs a re-style? CSVPA Fashion students are on hand to re-imagine your garments

Collage / drawing workshop with Dan Whiteson

Join artist Dan Whiteson for some informal drawing and collage sessions, great for first time artists and those with more experience alike.

This is an evening event taking place at the Museum and aimed at an adult audience. Tickets will be £5 (all workshops are included) – pre-booking is required. Book your tickets here.

All materials are included in the ticket price – all you need to do is bring a tote bag if you would like to do the tote bag rescue!
