Head of Art & Design
Rachel is an experienced and reflective educator with over 20 years of teaching and management experience. After undertaking a BA in Fashion and Textiles at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education in Art and Design at the University of Cambridge. Since then, Rachel has taught and led many different courses and modules including Art and Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, and Illustration. Versatile and wide-ranging in her own skills, Rachel is a keen advocate of multidisciplinary work and encourages students to cross boundaries, take risks and develop the necessary skills for future success.
In 2018 Rachel completed her Master’s Degree in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Her first children’s book, “Into The Forest” was shortlisted for a World Illustration Award and published by Scholastic UK Ltd in 2019. Rachel’s work has also been shortlisted for The Book Illustration Prize in 2019. She loves to travel and enjoys experiencing other cultures and the outdoors, and this informs much of her work.
