During this one-week course, you will be guided by our expert tutors in using a wide range of mark making techniques in different materials. You will explore contemporary painting and drawing using the historic and world-renowned city of Cambridge as your inspiration. You will visit a local gallery and build your skills to include a wide range of contextual perspective and create a strong body of visually interesting works.

BROADEN YOUR SKILLS IN THE INDUSTRY
Drawing is the basis for any creative art. This course is ideal for those that want to pursue careers in fine art and illustration. It also provides a foundation for different creative disciplines including graphics, fashion, 3D design and animation. The activities on this course help you to think creatively and challenge your mind set and approach to artistic problems. You will also have the opportunity to visit galleries and museums and gather research to inform your own responses.

PROGRESSION AT CSVPA
Completion of the course can enable progression on to our University of the Arts London Awarding Body Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses if you meet the UAL entry criteria for the course.

PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

This course is taught in English, and students are asked to communicate with each other in English, giving our international students the perfect opportunity to practice their English speaking, listening, writing and reading skills.

Who is it for
The course is aimed at any student aged 14 to 18 years who is interested in developing their skills in painting and drawing. Completion of the course can enable progression on to our University of the Arts London Awarding Body Extended Diploma or Foundation Diploma courses.

English Level
Minimum English standard: International students should have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English

Introduction to tone. Tonal papers. Different pencils and how they affect tone. In studio focus on drawings made so far. Introduction to make making, printmaking, and texture. Painting workshops. Introduction and demonstration of acrylic mediums, glazes, brushes, palette knives. Students explore these ideas. Still life painting using everything learned so far.
